If you are heading to either Disneyland or Disney World after May 1st of this year, you will want to read this. Today Disney announced new rules and policies that will kick into effect on that date.
Strollers
First, and probably affects the most people, is the new stroller size guidelines.
From Disney Destinations:
" Beginning May 1, we are adjusting our guidelines on stroller sizes, which will require them to be no larger than 31" (79cm) wide and 52" (132cm) long or smaller. The good news – many of the strollers on the market, including many double jogging strollers, fit within these size guidelines. Also, just a reminder that wagons are not permitted in our parks. Beginning May 1, stroller wagons will also no longer be permitted. These updates are designed to help guest flow and ease congestion, making the parks more enjoyable for everyone."
Yep, that includes the ever popular Keenz wagons. Those will no longer be allowed at Disney parks. But my favorite, the Double Bob Jogging stroller, does fit into the new guidelines.
Smoking
From Disney Destinations:
" Also beginning May 1, smoking areas will no longer be present inside Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Downtown Disney in California.
TIP: Designated smoking areas will be available outside the entrances to the areas listed above, and at Disney Springs in Florida. For guests who have room or dining reservations, smoking areas are also available at Disney Resort hotels. "
I am personally excited about this one. I am not a smoker and despise the smell. I appreciate not having to worry about exposing my kids to second hand smoke while at the Happiest Place on Earth. But I do feel for those people who are addicted to it and how it will make it harder for them to enjoy some uninterrupted quality family time.
Loose & Dry Ice
Loose or dry ice for coolers will also no longer be allowed, but reusable ice packs are still allowed.
TIP: (from me) It is very easy to get ice and cold water for free at Disney. Simply go to any food court with a fountain drink station, grab one of their cups, and fill it with ice and tap water from the station. Then simply transfer it to your own cooler or water bottle. It is completely free and an easy way to stay hydrated without spending a lot of money.
